These are A Grade Tops and may have streaking or color variations and mostly clear of physical defects - Some streaking or knots may be present but do not affect stability or tone.  These Soundboards are graded on stiffness and sound not entirely on aesthetics.

The dark color tones of a Redwood top are not at all traditional, but the superior musical tone of these soundboards win out over their unconventional appearance. These tops have become popular, proven performers for a wide range of high-end classical and steel string luthiers.

People's preferences for Redwood soundboards vary widely. Some like clear color and many welcome the idiosyncratic streaks and coloration of this species. Variations in price reflect variations in the stiffness of the individual top with stiffer tops costing a bit more.
